Elevated Gatherings Rooted in Sustainability

At Stein House Farm, we believe weddings can be both beautiful and kind to the earth. As a working flower farm and venue built from locally sourced materials, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. From the stone used to construct our Viking-inspired barn to the seasonal flowers grown right here on our farm, we strive to honor the land while creating unforgettable celebrations.

Our eco-friendly practices include:

  • Locally Grown Florals – All wedding flowers are grown and designed on-site, reducing shipping emissions and supporting pollinators.

  • Real Glassware & Dinnerware – We encourage couples to use high-quality, reusable glassware and dinnerware at every event. Not only does this reduce waste, but it also elevates the guest experience with a more refined and timeless dining atmosphere.

  • Thoughtful Landscaping – We only mow the areas that directly affect our guests, keeping gathering spaces manicured while allowing surrounding meadows and native grasses to flourish. This creates a stunning backdrop where guests can enjoy the untouched beauty of Southern Illinois while supporting local wildlife habitats and reducing fuel use.

  • Recycling & Composting – We recycle bottles, cans, and other materials after every event, and all florals not taken home by guests are composted back into the farm. By doing so, we aim to limit each wedding to no more than eight large trash bags of landfill waste—a significant reduction compared to the average U.S. wedding, which generates over 400 pounds of trash.

  • Partnerships with Local Vendors – We collaborate with trusted local partners to reduce transportation impact, support the regional economy, and provide couples with sustainable, community-driven options.

  • Low-Impact Design – Our spaces are intentionally created to blend with the natural landscape, with perennial plantings and native grasses that thrive year after year.

Every couple who chooses Stein House Farm contributes to a more sustainable wedding industry. Together, we’re proving that luxury and eco-consciousness can exist side by side.
